International women’s Day Celebrations and inauguration of Russian-Indian Women’s Club

Dr.Beena Paul inaugurated the Film Festival. In her inaugural address, Mrs.Beena Paul stressed the necessity to encourage women in the field of Film industry. “Both India and Russia encourage their women directors in making good movies. Women Directors’ presence is visible in the international Film Festivals’, said Mrs.Beena Paul. The inauguration was followed by Russian film KO KO KO directed by Avdotia Smirnova. Indian Film OTTAYAL by Shaini Jacob Benjamin was screened on the second day (7 March). Talk by Maria Yakovleva on “The Way we celebrate Women’s Day in Russia” was held on 7 March. Women from 5 continents ( Ms.Marina Krasnukh (Russia), Dr.Sudha Warier(India), Ms. Paulene Jarvis(Australia), Ms.Nan Smith(America) Ms.Sarojini Gepken( South African Citizen of India origin) jointly inaugurated the Women’s Day celebrations by lighting the lamp. Launching of the Russian-Indian Women’s Club was held with the swearing in ceremony of its President Dr.Sudha Warier and Ms.Sona Nair as Secretary. Film MA by Ms.Annie Bonniel was screened after the formal function.
