Second Anniversary of Indo-Russian Students’ Club celebrated

Ms. Anastasia Bogdanova and Secretary of the Indian Chapter Ms.Gatha Namboodhiry jointly inaugurated the anniversary celebrations by exchanging Russian and Indian flags. The members of the Russian Delegation led by Mr.Denis Mostovoi of the School of young Diplomats and Indian delegates led by Mr. Mohammed Benyahin , Secretary of the Trivandrum Chapter of the Club took oath to carry forward the Russian – Indian People’s Diplomacy. Addressing the gathering, Ratheesh C. Nair, Honorary Consul of the Russian Federation and Director, Russian Centre of Science and Culture in Thiruvanathapuram said that even though strategic partnership exists among many countries, the Partnership and friendly Ties between Russia and India are unique and time tested. “We have more than 10 clubs and societies under the auspices of the Russian Cultural Centre. But the Students’ Club is very significant because we need a new generation in both Russia and India who will love and respect each other. Because People to People contact is the foundation for Russian-Indian Relationship”, said Mr.Ratheesh Nair. The Function was held at the St. Mary’s School where the 12th Chapter of the Club was formed. The Russian Students’ delegation was received in a traditional way. Cultural programes by both the Russian and Indian Students were held after the formal function. The visiting delegation called on the Chief Minister of Kerala Mr.Oomman Chandy. The discussion between the Students’ delegation and the Chief Minister went on for 45 minutes. They discussed various subjects. The visit to the Chief Minister’s Office was a new experience for the future People’s diplomats from Russia.
