Regular weekly screening of Russian Films began at the Russian Cultural Centre, Trivandrum

National award winning Director Mr.Lenin Rajendran inaugurated the regular film screening. Honorary Consul of the Russian Federation and Director of the Russian Cultural Centre in Trivandrum Ratheesh C. Nair presided overt he function. Mr.Suresh Babu who is the secretary of the South Indian Chapter of the Federation of Film Societies of India who is also the co-ordinator of the Film Club of the Russian Cultural Centre welcomed the gathering. Inaugurating the regular screening Mr.Lenin Rajendran said that the Russian Centre which was formerly known as Gorky Bhavanam contributed greatly in making good film makers. “I do remember the words of the Oscar Award Winner Mr.Rassul Pookkutty who once mentioned that he got introduced to genuine films after becoming a member of the Russian Centre. Battleship Potemkin still remains as classic example for real film making. Now we can down load any film and watch the same. But watching collectively with those who share the same taste for good movies would be a great experience. Regular screening of the Russian films at the Centre will bring back a great nostalgic feelings of experiencing good movies”, said Mr.Lenin Rajendran. Mr.Ratheesh Nair announced the list of 50 films that would be shown till September 2014. Membership cards for the members of the Russian Film Clubs were also distributed.
